Melting

We visited "Le Village des Neiges." It is a celebration held each year where a series of structures are carved from snow and ice. The weather had been so unseasonably warm the week we attended that most structures were closed due to flooding. (Tropical is good for butterflies, bad for snow ceilings.) The "church" was still open for tourist worship.

Butterflies!

Tamara, seen here with the ultimate accessory - clip on boys, organized a group visit to the annual butterfly exhibit. The exhibit detours through the botanical garden greenhouses. Because there were so many visitors, we saw the gardens inch by inch - very literally taking time to smell the flowers. Tropical gardens and South American butterflies banished winter from my conscious.

Little drummer boy AND girl

On Mondays we attend music "awakening." William and Caroline are deftly introduced to musical concepts and instruments. I glean musical vocabulary en français. Magnifique!

Biodome revisited - Feb 2012

We purchased a family membership for the Biodome. The eggs are just outside the penguin exhibit. I like the idea of the children hatching and Papa sitting on the nest!
There is a beaver-cam inside the damn - not as Narnia-like as I expected.
The blue parrot, even without words, seems to be saying "A little privacy please!"
The bat boys are experiencing sonar.
I'm not sure which planet William is holding, it's just highly huggable. Venus maybe?

Oh Canada

I took my oath to the Queen and now have dual-citizenship. Behind me are the words "Our Citizen." So welcoming!

Could they be cuter? Jan 2012

I have the camera omni-handy to capture cuteness as it occurs. William is imaginative and loved pretending to feed Caroline "un gateau."
The blocks get a lot of mileage (kilometrage) in our home.
We sing a song about "Jack in the box." "Will-oline in the box" naturally followed.

Pianiste - 9 Jan 2012

William "tickled the ivories" at the same age. Will they be as attracted to the magical piano when I say, "It's time to practice?"

Scientist in Snow Boots

We braved bad weather to beat cabin fever. I took William and Caroline to the Montreal Biodome. Fascinated is an understatement for William's reaction.

Farewell Elder Davis - Jan 2012

Philippe, Patrick Robertson and Elder Davis served together as a Branch Presidency for 2 years. Elder Davis and Sister Davis will return to Australia 23 Jan. Extraordinary to have our lives crossed across continents.

Day of Royalty - 6 Jan 2012

We often celebrate the "Day of the Kings" and my birthday on the same day. I love this coicidence! Eve made the traditional cake with a candied almond as the favor to be found. The coating melted throughout the cake ultimately making us all the "royal finder." We graciously shared the power and the crown.

Bricolage - New Year's Improvement, 3 Jan 2012

The term "bricolage" roughly translates to "handiwork" Our Super-Brico-Man replaced the stair railing and did some touch-up painting during his vacation. Out with the old, in with the improved!

The joy of giving - 24 Dec

William wanted to make gifts. Mamie never received a more exquisite tin can.

Deck with Soccer Balls...

Boughs, balls it's all festive!

Birthday Girl - 5 Dec.

Caroline is 1-year-old! At her party, she loved crinkling the wrapping paper. She found her cake "curious." I think she's precocious to be reading already ;-).

Polar Bear, Polar Bear

I'm not emphasizing arctic stereotypes...but I'm humored to see William reciting Polar Bear, Polar Bear to Tatie Eve while wearing his Polar Bear socks. How meta is that? He is my favourite Canadian.

Ball - 03 Dec. 2011

Caroline loves this plush soccer ball. William shares it, sometimes.

Great Travellers - 13 Oct. 2011

William and Caroline were tiny travellers extraordinaire. William suggested we do it again.
